CLAW Electives:
- Feeding Futures Culinary Arts
Students in this CLAW elective support their peers and the school food program through baking. Work on your culinary skills while helping feed the Grizzlies.
- Video Games and Communication
Explore topics around communication and language through the lens of video games.
- Minecraft Build Challenges
Creative mode only (no gaming). Learn how to build and engineer real-life structures in Minecraft. Tutorials in first term. For your projects, you must pick real-life, school appropriate structures to recreate in Minecraft (castles, game parks, landmarks, ships, etc.).
- Themes in Classic Film
Consider important themes in class films that have had an impact on cinema and culture.
- Pilates and Spin Class
Students can keep active in this CLAW as they use the spin bikes and learn Pilates.
- Yoga
Students will learn the physical practice of yoga poses and the benefits of breathwork and mindfulness strategies.
- Calligraphy
Students in this CLAW elective have the opportunity to unwind and learn the art of calligraphy.
- Podcasting
Explore the art of podcasting. Research, prepare, and produce podcasts using the podcasting lab.
- Handbells
Learn the art of working together, learning a new instrument, and reading music in handbells. The handbell is an ensemble instrument perfect for experienced musicians and those new to music alike.
- Inclusive PHE
A fun way to keep active outside of the typical PE experience. Students will explore in-school and community-based recreation activities.
- Circuit Training and Fitness
Keep active and support your fitness through circuit training.
- Rock Climbing and Bouldering
Keep active and have fun with rock climbing. Students in this CLAW elective go to Project Climbing each week. Students are required to have a Project Climbing membership. $375.00 for a Wednesday-only pass or $500.00 for an unlimited pass (September to June).
- Special Topics in Fashion and Textiles
This CLAW elective offers students an opportunity to take a deep dive into an area of fashion and textiles of their own choosing.
- Novel /Graphic Novel Writing
Calling aspiring authors! Collaborate with fellow writers to workshop your writing and create the novel you’ve always wanted to write.

- Book Club
Nothing brings joy the way discovering a great book with friends can! Find great new reads, have rich discussions, and build time into your busy week to benefit from the many gifts of reading.
- Content Creation and Social Media Marketing
The digital world is familiar to us. This CLAW program explores the tools and strategies to engage with it purposefully. Flip the role from digital audience to digital citizen in Content Creation and Social Media Marketing.
- Creative Explorations
Realise your creativity in Creative Explorations. Whether your creativity lives in art, design, technology, or is something you are still discovering, Creative Explorations is a space to practice and share your imagination.
- Drama Games
Action! Experience the world of theatre through the Drama Games CLAW. This program explores a variety of theatre games that develop confidence, speaking skills, and collaboration through purposeful fun. If you are new to theatre (or a returning star), this is a great opportunity to connect with peers and set the stage.
- Ethics and Moral Philosophy
This CLAW elective explores the frameworks that lead us to determine what is “right,” or “good,” and what is “wrong,” or “bad”. Students will explore various philosophical exercises, dilemmas, and conversations to broaden perspective, sharpen skills, and collaborate. Students will also be invited to participate in the annual Ethics Bowl.
- Geometry Art
Sign up for the class where Art and Math collide! Explore tessellations, symmetry, precision and the abstract through calculations and colour. Practice your problem-solving, visually explore math concepts, and express your creativity.
- International Film Studies
We know and love the worlds we discover through the big screen. International Film Studies gives students the opportunity to expand their discoveries through international film.
- Intramurals
The Intramurals CLAW is open to all! Join your peers in friendly competition in the gym. Try new sports, hone your skill, and set personal goals to strive for. Make time for health, fitness, and fun through the Intramurals CLAW class.
- Knitting and Crocheting
Learn a new craft or explore a passion in Knitting and Crocheting. Students can explore the meditative process of knitting and crochet. This fun, collaborative opportunity allows students to learn something new while connecting with one another.
- Korean for Travel
Travelling is something many of us aspire to do (or have had the chance to do). Korean for Travel introduces the Korean language and is specifically tailored to the conversations, questions, and vocabulary most valuable for tourists. No previous Korean language experience is required!
- Novel Studies
This is Novel Study Group: you choose the book YOU want to read! Any genre. Any vibe. Fantasy, romance, mystery, sports, graphic novels—your call. We’ll talk about the book together, answer some chill guiding questions, and break into small groups to discuss it—no pop quizzes, no ‘wrong answers,’ no stress. If you already love reading, this makes it way more fun
If you want to level up your reading skills, confidence, or even just how you explain your ideas—this helps without feeling like work.
If you want a space to read what you want, talk about it, and level up without the pressure—this group is for you.
- School of Rock
Connect with peers through music in a safe and supportive environment. Discover other musicians from within GW Graham and build a band. Practice playing music with bandmates, explore the art of performance, and dive into the world of live music.
- Women in Trades
Women in Trades is a shop space where students can learn welding, sheet metal, and fabrication — no experience needed. This is a safe, supportive entry point for women interested in trade careers to build real skills, gain confidence, and connect with other women who are passionate about making, building, and learning trades skills. No judgment. No pressure.
- LINK Enhancement
Do you want to help our incoming grade nines adapt to their new environment here at G.W. Graham? Have you had a variety of positive experiences at our school that you would like share with our newest students, leaving a positive legacy? This CLAW is for you!
Students choosing this CLAW will attend two training days plus the grade nine orientation in the week before school begins (September 1, 2, and 3, 2026). Then, during CLAW and Career Education blocks, in addition to helping run and organize three grade nine events throughout the year, LINK CLAW students will complete their Career Education lessons, support grade nines in their Career Education and CLAW blocks and have one week per month to receive academic support in an Academic Enhancement CLAW of their choice.
