AP SEMINAR
In AP Seminar, we don’t ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”—we ask, “What problems do you want to solve?”
Designed by the College Board in response to university feedback, AP Seminar was created to bridge the gap between traditional academics and the real-world skills students need to thrive. In this course, students tackle complex, real-world issues from multiple perspectives.
Rather than memorizing facts, students engage in deep analysis, critical thinking, collaboration, and original research. You’ll learn how to evaluate sources, build and defend evidence-based arguments, and present your ideas with confidence and clarity. Whether you're passionate about climate change, technology ethics, or social justice, AP Seminar empowers you to become an informed, articulate, and innovative problem solver.
This is the course for students who want to think boldly, question deeply, and make an impact.

AP RESEARCH & CAPSTONE PROGRAM
AP Capstone is a unique two-course program that equips students with the independent research, communication, and critical thinking skills that universities value most.
It begins with AP Seminar, typically taken in Grade 10 or 11, where students explore real-world issues through inquiry, analysis, and presentation. After completing Seminar, students advance to AP Research, where they design and carry out an in-depth, original research project on a topic they are passionate about.
Together, these two courses provide a powerful foundation for academic success, lifelong learning, and leadership in an ever-changing world.
Students who successfully complete both AP Seminar and AP Research earn the AP Seminar & Research Certificate from the College Board. Those who complete these two courses plus four additional AP courses and exams receive the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma—an internationally recognized credential that demonstrates academic excellence and college readiness.
At GW Graham, students can work toward the AP Capstone Diploma by enrolling in a wide selection of AP courses in English, Social Studies, Science, Art, and Mathematics—building a rich, rigorous academic pathway tailored to their goals and interests.
