AP LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION (Gr. 12)

Are you drawn to stories that challenge, inspire, and provoke thought? Do you want to sharpen your reading, writing, and analytical skills in a university-level setting?

AP English Literature & Composition is an immersive, college-level course for students passionate about exploring novels, plays, and poetry from a wide range of genres and time periods. Modeled after first-year university literature classes and aligned with College Board standards, this course builds advanced skills in critical thinking, literary analysis, and academic writing.

Students will engage in close reading, thoughtful discussion, and in-depth exploration of voice, structure, and theme. The course also develops the ability to craft clear, compelling arguments about complex texts.

Successful completion earns credit for English Studies 12, Literary Studies 12, and AP Literature & Composition. This course is ideal for students with a solid foundation in English. We recommend prior success in Literary Studies 10/Composition 10 or English First Peoples 11, and a grade of Proficient (B/73%) or Extending (A/86%).

If you’re ready to challenge yourself, think deeply, and grow as a reader and writer, AP Literature & Composition offers a transformative academic experience.
